DIET ET CANCER (PART 2)

Hey there! It's me again and I apologize for the delay in bringing the second part of Diet et Cancer to you. You are permitted to  discipline me when you see me๐Ÿ˜

I hope you are doing fine?๐Ÿ˜‰

So let's get to it!

FISH AND CANCER

Although the way fish actually reduces the risk of cancer is unclear, EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) found that people that eat 80g of fish a day reduce their of bowel cancer by a third.

FIBRE AND CANCER

  • A recent study found  that more than one in ten (12%) bowel cancers are linked to a low fiber diet
  • Eating 10g of fiber per day can reduce risk of bowel cancer by around 10%
  • Cereal fiber and whole grain seem to have the most effect on reducing bowel cancer risk
  • Fiber triggers production of helpful, chemicals and increases the frequency of bowel movement
  • Bacteria in the bowel interact with fiber to produce several chemicals including butyrate. Butyrate changes the condition in the bowel so that tumors are less likely to develop. Lab experiments have shown that butyrate can also stop the growth of cancer cells and cause them to die.
  • Consuming a lot of salt can increase stomach cancer risk
  • Salt could also interact with a "stomach bug" called Helicobacter pylori that causes both stomach ulcers and stomach cancer.
  • I am sure you would not doubt the "an Apple a day keeps the doctor away" talk you've been hearing๐Ÿ˜
Are you having fun?๐Ÿ˜ƒ You said yes, awww that's sweet.
Let us move on then!
Here's a little something about Colorectal cancer;
  • It is the most common cancer in the UK
  • The incidence is increasing and the population at risk are the elderly, average age of 60-65 years
  • 75% of the cases are sporadic - no family history
  • Surgery is the first line of treatment
ALCOHOL AND CANCER
Drinking alcohol regularly  can increase the risk of:
  • Mouth cancer
  • Pharyngeal (upper throat) cancer
  • Esophageal cancer
  • Laryngeal (voice box) cancer
  • Breast, bowel and liver cancers

There you have it my lovely friend. I hope you had a great time learning these today. I would not fail to appreciate you for visiting my blog. Thank you so much! We would take a look at dietary management during cancer treatment next time. Till I come your way next time I remain your loyal friend, Ebube. See you!๐Ÿ˜˜
